Grasshopper is a virtual phone system that works well for businesses. The simple cost structure and affordable plans make it suitable for businesses of any size; however, International phone calls are not included in the plans and the service can become expensive if you need to make many calls overseas.

Grasshopper Ease of Use and Setup
Once you’ve signed up your number, you’ll be able to customize the service to suit your business needs.
Adding Extensions
Go to Extensions, click on Add and follow the instructions to include name, time zone and a PIN.
Adding Call Forwarding
Once you’ve chosen a forwarding number, you’ll be able to choose how to handle the calls. You can choose:
- Calls will be announced when you pick up – after hearing a greeting, you’ll be able to accept the call, send the call to voicemail or hear the phone number.
- Calls will connect as soon as you pick up – the call will ring on the forwarding phone number as if it were a regular call.
- Callers will be asked for their name, then announced to you – when you answer the phone, the caller’s name will be announced and you can then decide whether to accept the call, send the call to voicemail or hear the phone number.
Set Up a Call Forwarding Schedule
Your calls will be set to be received 24/7 by default. If you want to change this, you can set your own schedule via the forwarding schedule drop-down menu. Outside of the set hours, all calls will go directly to voicemail or to a forwarding number.
Alternatively, you can customize the schedule to fit your specific needs:
Set Forwarding Options
If you have multiple forwarding numbers on an extension, you can set the order in which the numbers are called, with the following options:
- In order, just once
- Indefinitely, until someone picks up
- Simultaneously – This feature is called Call Blasting and comes at an additional charge of $10/month.
